Laidback Animal-Obsessed Wedding at Pecan Springs Ranch in Austin, TX

Get ready folks, because this animal-obsessed wedding at Pecan Springs Ranch has IT ALL. I’m talking hot pink light-up sneakers, chicken fingers in a fanny pack, beer donkeys, THREE DOGS, and a vintage photo booth bus. Beyond all the elements that were just for funsies, there were also some sentimental additions that had me feeling all the feels.

A little backstory — I photographed Colleen’s sister’s wedding a year prior in Charleston, South Carolina, so I was very familiar with her family and the insane amount of fun they bring to the table. Shortly before Colleen and Eric’s wedding, her mother passed away. Because I knew Colleen’s mother from her sister’s wedding, I felt the weight of her absence, and knew that much of the day would have an undertone of grief. Below, you will see a bracelet engraved with Colleen’s mother’s handwriting that she wore, along with a handkerchief given to Colleen by Eric’s family that has been carried by the women in his family since 1981. Although moments of the day felt heavy, Colleen and Eric, along with everyone present, chose happiness and celebrated their hearts out, and I was so honored to be a part of it.

First Look…but with DOGS

Colleen and Eric have three of the most precious dogs that I could not stop obsessing over. I know they were excited to see each other during their first look, but I think it’s safe to say (and all of my dog lovers out there would agree) that they were possibly even more excited to see their dogs! Kira, Bowie, and Georgia certainly stole the show and my heart.

Ceremony under the trees at Pecan Springs Ranch

Again, just wait for the fun that’s in store. Colleen and Eric thought of everything to keep the party upbeat and full of laughter. I remember when the “flower dude” trend emerged, and I hope it’s here to stay.

Beer Donkeys at Cocktail Hour!

You cannot convince me that a cocktail hour is complete without beer donkeys after having experienced them at Colleen and Eric’s wedding.

It was brought to my attention that Colleen’s family has a classic family photo of them all pushing their broken down vintage bus…therefore, it had to be recreated. The photo bus from Gypc Wagen was the perfect prop!

The infamous fanny pack chicken fingers

Earlier in the day, Colleen had the brilliant idea of putting a chicken finger snack in her “Dr. G” fanny pack. The pure joy on her face when she remembered she had a snack on hand, combined with her sharing spirit, provided for some of the most iconic dance floor photos.

The never-ending sparkler exit

Come to find out, Colleen and Eric got the kind of sparklers that last forever. So much so, that they managed to run through the aisle 3+ times. After the second time, Eric bowed out, and let Colleen have her epic solo moment. Thank God those chicken fingers had digested by this point.
