Your story deserves to be told honestly and authentically

Your wedding photography experience should be fun and stress-free

You deserve a tailored experience that makes you feel seen and heard

Love is love. You deserve to feel comfortable in your own skin and confident in who you are

I believe

I approach every wedding and session with a blank slate. Before I guide you through any posing prompts, I want to first observe how you and your partner interact. I want to see what your natural reaction is to having your photo taken so that I know your baseline level of vulnerability. More importantly, I want to witness how you and your partner love each other - whether that be in loud and proud ways, soft and subtle ways, or something in between. My biggest goal is to portray you as authentically as possible, so that you can remember this time in your lives for years to come. My hope is that you'll pull out your photo album 40 years from now and can be immediately transported back in time. Every moment that fills up the pages of your love story matters.

my creative process

Curious to know where we go from here? Click through to read about the experience you'll have with me as your wedding photographer.

Once you've browsed my website and inquire, I will send over a pricing and services guide filled with tons of useful information.

From there, we'll set up a time to chat over the phone to see if our personalities click! As your photographer, I'll be around you constantly on your wedding day, so it's important that you're not only drawn to my work, but to my personality as well.

If we hit it off, I will send a follow up email with a sample timeline to give you guidance on which collection best suits your needs. I like to be a part of your timeline construction from the early stages to ensure that we have the best possible light and ample time for photos!

Once you're ready to book, I'll send over a proposal with your retainer invoice and a client-photographer agreement. Your retainer is equal to 40% of your total fee. Once the retainer has been paid and the agreement has been signed, your date is officially reserved on my calendar! HOORAY!

After you've made it official, we can start scheduling any sessions that came with your collection. We'll dream up something magical that truly fits who you are as a couple! I'm always down for something new too.

In the months leading up to your wedding, I will check in on you periodically to see how you're doing! I will also begin to correspond with your planner to make sure we're on the same page with timing and logistics.

Around six weeks prior to your wedding, I will send you a questionnaire to gather all of the information I need in order to finalize your photography timeline. This includes family portrait groupings, personal details that you want stylized, and any specific photo requests you may have. I will draft up a timeline and send it to you and your planner for feedback. I'm happy to go through as many versions as we need to in order to make sure your wedding day runs efficiently from a photography standpoint.

In the week leading up to your wedding, I will send an email containing some tips for a stress-free wedding day. It will encourage you to really live in the moment and trust the vendor team you've so carefully selected!

THE DAY IS FINALLY HERE!
If I have never been to your venue before, I will arrive early enough to scout photo locations and take note of where the light is falling. I'll come with the timeline in hand (and partially memorized) and begin capturing your beautiful day. I'll keep you on track with timing and remind you to savor each moment. I will be there not only as your photographer, but as a knowledgable friend willing to solve any problem that may arise. I'll come equipped with a slew of random items that you'll likely need but didn't think to bring. I'm part photographer, part wedding ninja.

Within 48 hours of your wedding, I will send you a sneak peek to obsess over until the full gallery is available! It will contain some highlights but also some gorgeous portraits so that you can post an announcement on Facebook/Instagram with a real photo instead of one your friend happened to snap on their phone.

Within six weeks, a magical email will land in your inbox! I'll give you some warning so that you can have the champagne ready and make a date night out of it!

After you've had some time to look through the gallery and share it with everyone, I'll send an email asking you to review your experience with me! Reviews are so helpful for small businesses. If you loved your experience with me, I'd love to receive a raving review from you!

After all the formalities are done, you've made a friend for life! I often photograph my couples in their next stages of life, so feel free to reach out if any babies come along. Otherwise, I hope you see you at future weddings because you've referred me to your friends!

Sara is a breath of fresh air in the wedding industry. Honest, hilarious, meticulous and creative -- she’s everything you want and need in a wedding photographer.

When first initiating our search, our family gravitated towards the sheer joy and authenticity beaming from her clients’ photographs. Now having gone through the experience myself, I know it’s due to all of the time and attention she takes on the front-end to get to know each client on a deeply personal level. She knows exactly how to showcase you and your partner’s true selves, as well as showcase the emotions, beauty and small details on that special day.

It was very important to me and my husband, especially during these trying times, to support local women-owned businesses throughout our wedding festivities, and I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Sara Boyd.

Absolutely loved working with Sara. We attended a friends wedding two years ago and the groomsmen were all saying how much they enjoyed taking pictures! As soon as we were engaged, I reached out to my friend and asked for Sara's number- their pictures came back and looked so great- and my friend had mentioned how much she loved working with her. Sara and I set up time to chat- and ended up talking on the phone for an hour getting to know each-other before she sent any contracts. Her personal touch, technique, overall warm personality and professionalism truly make her stand out! Our day was perfect- despite getting rescheduled due to the pandemic- Sara was there every step of the way- reassuring me, agreeing to our new date, and going above and beyond the "vendor" call. I would absolutely recommend Sara to anyone who is looking to capture your moment and have gorgeous photos to share and keep as reminders forever!

Sara Boyd was absolutely fabulous to work with from start to finish. I also cannot stop looking at and posting my wedding photos thanks to Sara. Sara was very flexible when we had to push back our wedding date due to Covid-19 and very quick to respond to all my questions. Once our new date arrived, she captured the day so beautifully!!! I’m completely over the moon with all the photos. Sara was so calm, funny and easy going the whole wedding day. I highly recommend Sara to all brides!!!

It is hard to put into words how sincerely grateful myself and my husband are for Sara. Her professionalism, her attention to detail, her ability to connect with her couples, her transparency and above all her kindness are what makes her truly a special person.

Sara's pictures are beautiful! Many people have told us that our wedding pictures belong in magazines. Sara is down-to-earth, funny and had the ability to make my camera shy husband relax and enjoy taking pictures!

Sara is not only the person who photographed our wedding. She is also our friend. My husband and I each feel as if we have found a life long friend in her.

She also loves dogs and inappropriate humor, so if you're into that kind of thing HIRE HER!

Sara, on a serious note. THANK YOU for being who you are. You captured the best day of our lives and we couldn't be more thankful for you!

Sara is amazing to work with. So easy going and just a great human in general. We used her for our engagement photos and for our wedding. I was nervous that I would look and feel awkward in front of the camera but Sara made it easy and it was actually fun! During the wedding she was able to corral our crazy wedding party and the pictures she took still take my breath away. She was respectful and listened to any random requests or questions I had. Sara even helped me with other vendor suggestions and she even led me to the place that I purchased my wedding dress from! Still so happy with our decision to use Sara and would recommend her a million times over.

Meryl + Emily

Sara is the absolute best!! She captured our wedding day perfectly and I keep going back to our album over and over and reliving that day. She was very easy to get along with and work with. As a lesbian couple, she made us feel so loved and accepted. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone who wants the best photographer ever.

Lauren + Patrick

HIGHLY recommend Sara with Sara Boyd Photography. She made my now husband and I feel so incredibly comfortable because she’s so down-to-earth and funny.

During our engagement photos in Charleston, we got stuck in an epic downpour with sideways rain about 10 minutes into the session. We were upset, but she helped us laugh through the situation and she made herself available the following day to retake the photos. And even through a torrential downpour on our wedding day in Charlotte (we are not lucky when it comes to weather), she still delivered absolutely beautiful photos. She was also great and wrangling unruly groomsman, big families, and made sure to get every single shot we asked for.

We met with about 6 different photographers prior to making our decision and we felt we most connected with Sara. We loved everything about working with Sara. She made us laugh and made us feel comfortable. And, we love all the photos she took. BOOK HER!

FAQ

Up until July 2020, I was based in Charleston, SC. For 8 years I grew my business there, and recently made the move to Dallas, TX so that my husband could start his doctoral degree at UNT in Choral Conducting (yes, he's a music nerd). I'm still actively booking weddings in Charleston, SC but am also establishing myself in Texas.

Yes, of course! I encourage you to! Your photos (that you invested a lot of money in) deserve to live somewhere other than your phone or computer. I provide you with a print release that allows you to print your images wherever you’d like, but I highly encourage you to utilize the print shop built into your gallery. I can vouch for the quality and craftsmanship of the prints that come from your gallery shop. I cannot guarantee that a place like CVS or Snapfish won't totally f*** up the coloring and quality of your photos. There's nothing quite like having a high quality print hanging on your walls!

Sure do!
General liability insurance as well as equipment insurance. I'm happy to provide a COI (Certificate of Insurance) to any venues/vendors that require it.

Yeeeeeeee!!
First, do a happy dance.
Second, let's make this shit official.
To reserve your date with me, I require a signed contract as well as a deposit. The deposit is 40% of your total fee. Fill out my contact form or email me at hello@saraboydphotography.com to get this party started!

Call me crazy, but I LOVE making timelines. I thrive on efficiency and want to ensure that I'm helping you make your timeline from the start. After our initial phone call, I will send over a sample timeline based on our conversation to show you how many hours of coverage you need. A big part of photography is light, and it's important that we take lighting into consideration when determining things such as ceremony time.

I divide your fee into four payments - one of which is the deposit. The other three are due once a month starting three months out from your wedding. So let's assume your wedding is in May, you'd pay your deposit at the time of booking at then pay 20% in February, March, and April.

It depends. Because I travel for a good bit of weddings, I rely on my national network of wedding photographers to find someone awesome to be my sidekick in new locations. If the wedding is in Texas or South Carolina, I have a handful of badass ladies that I rotate between. Regardless, every second photographer I use is also a full-time wedding photographer that knows their stuff and can hold their own should a problem arise. After the wedding, I obtain their raw digital files and edit them in my style. When viewing your gallery, you won't even be able to tell the difference!

YES! And I highly encourage this with every photographer you’re considering. Social media is deceptive — it can make an inexperienced photographer look fantastic. For all you know, the photos they’re posting could be the only decent one out of every 1000 they take, and that’d be a bummer for your wedding photos. I’d love to send you a full gallery that is similar in location to where your wedding will take place. Just ask!

Because after 9 years of being a wedding photographer, I know what works and what doesn't, making your wedding day extremely efficient. My years of experience allow me to remain calm and ensure that your experience is enjoyable from start to finish. Throughout your wedding planning process and on your wedding day, my role extends far beyond my job description. I wear many different hats, all to ensure that you have the best day possible!
