When I think about a couple that did it their way…Joanna and Brian come to mind. They truly had a wedding that fit them to a tee. They didn’t design it within the confines that dictate a traditional wedding, and I FREAKING LOVE THAT ABOUT THEM. Joanna’s sister is also one of my past brides, so it was a family reunion that I could not wait for! Getting to hang out with their parents, Rankin and Larry (who I affectionately call Lar-Bear), was the icing on the cake for me.
They had neon rainbows, donuts, a food truck, and mismatched outfits. They originally didn’t want any coverage of them getting ready or of their first look, but due to things getting behind (as they always do), I ended up arriving for that portion of the day and photographed it from a distance. They are private people, and I love that they wanted those parts of the day experienced without many eyes looking on.
Their venue, Pepper Plantation, is also near and dear to my heart. Jordan and I had our wedding there nearly five years ago. Being back there was heartwarming and I had a newfound appreciation for the beauty of the venue.
Joanna and Brian, thank you so much for choosing me for your day. I had a freaking blast, and ate way too many donuts.
